I have been serving and supporting Waltham and Ward 3 since being elected in 2023 and want to continue my service to you. I ask for your support, and your vote, in the upcoming Ward 3 city council election in November.
Ward 3 is flush with open space that is not always prioritized or used properly. Some has been left unused or abandoned. I'll continue to protect these parcels, work for conservation easements and restrictions and work to keep Hardy Pond clean. Recent improvements at 200 Trapelo Rd/Fernald are now open and the next phases of amenities are starting. We are also starting improvements to the Wellington House.
As the Ward 3 City Councillor, I pride myself on returning every phone call and message. I receive calls for things small and large and give attention to every resident inquiry. This is part of the job that takes the most time and I feel a sense of accomplishment when I help a resident solve a problem.
We fought off the unsafe solar farm being built in Lexington. The next fight for a neighborhood could come at any time. As a member of the ordinances and rules committee, I hear from developers who want to build in Waltham. This is a constant negotiation and is real representation of Waltham. Not all developers have the city's best interests in mind. We are also re-writing our zoning code and will bring a positive impact to residents and business owners.
Waltham is the envy of all of our surrounding neighbors. Our property values should increase while taxes stay low and flat. I'm a homeowner and taxpayer and worked to keep our residential taxes the lowest possible by law while improving our quality of life. I'll also work with local businesses to help them thrive. In November 2024, we set the tax rates in Waltham and Waltham is STILL the best deal around for your housing dollar.
The Trapelo Road corridor is busy and I have worked with families and the city to improve public safety and make traffic flow improvements. Every child and adult should feel safe riding their bike or walking around our neighborhood, streets and city.
I pride myself on being the most transparent city councillor to serve. I write weekly "council notes and summaries on WalthamWard3.com and post them to social media. I will continue to be responsive, responsible and accountable and will communicate quickly and often so people stay informed.
Paid for by the Committee to Elect Bill Hanley.
